This Week: The Houston Zoo

A few weeks ago I met some fellow Flickrites at the Houston Zoo for a meet-up. It was the first opportunity I had to really test out my new telephoto lens. I must say that the zoo is a much more interesting place when you have a long lens.

This is Jonathan, king of the jungle, striking a pose that is familiar to almost any cat owner. From what I hear from frequent zoo visitors, Jonathan's main activity is sleeping. But with cool, brisk weather and an additional cold front coming in the morning of the meet-up, I caught him awake. You can see one of the lionesses in this corner of this photo in similar position.

Great shot! I love that his face takes up most of the screen. What a bargain for you lens! I just bought the ef-55-250mm...I only wish I got it for $15.
