Via Colori 2010 | Monday Dec 06, 2010
The 5th annual Via Color street painting festival was held at the end of November in downtown Houston. Artists take to the streets with their chalk sets and decorate squares of various sizes. All proceeds of the event benefit The Center for Hearing and Speech.
In terms of photography this was a good news, bad news event. The good news is that this is the best film work that I think I have done so far. I used the Pentax MX for this shoot and I am very happy with the look of the photos. The whole group together (these and the ones on Flickr) are what I want from my film work.
The bad news is that they are also the must scratched and dust covered that I have had to deal with. I spent an extraordinarily large amount of time doing spot correction and that was just for the big stuff. It probably would have been faster to re-scan them, but I didn't think of that until I was about 3/4ths of the way through. But I've learned my lesson and will hopefully have a better result next time. So much to learn in the film world.
